The last 'work' related post, and then back to the usual non-relevant food, travel & drink postings. Since the busy period before xmas ended with a week of exams in late Dec, this term we have the internship season with many companies coming to the business school to talk about their programs for the summer in June, July & August and giving information about their companies for future opportunities.

After 8 years at yahoo! and nearly 10 working full time it seems a bit strange to now be looking for an internship but its all good practice.  Plus one of the main reasons I wanted to do the MBA was to find out more about different industries & companies, its interesting to hear about other industries but it also reminds me what I liked about the internet business. 

However the programs offered in many cases remind me of going back in time many years to my somehow obtained under-graduate degree. I dislike the formulaic multi-step  'graduate recruitment' programs so much, and its a shame that so many smart people have to work so hard in 'post credit crunch' times to convince people they fit a very defined and narrow role or project.

Since new year its been a couple of weeks of snow and lots of freezing cold weather in Milan.  I've also been back at the business school, and so far have been enjoying the second term as its at a little bit of a slower pace. Its already January though, so the course in my view is nearly over already, as I finish at the end of October so after this term which finishes in April there are only two other shorter terms in May June, and the concentration in Sept & Oct.  Above is as you've probably guessed the view from my seat in class, during a particularly animated class from Prof Grando on shoe making! (I'm thinking I'm sure I'll use this info in the future....)

Happy 2009! Had a fun New Years eve and pre-new year catching up with old friends in London, NYE itself involved a BBQ outside in the cold, lots of champagne and guitar hero! Plus fireworks some overhead but mostly on TV as we didn't make it down to the big show by the Thames.

Many thanks to Bjorn & Louise for letting us stay with them and cook, watch the office, and see the terrible 'Curious case of Benjamin Button'  If that wins an Oscar for anything other than fx its crazy.

In between Xmas and New Year we took a visit to London to visit my parents and Grandma who was staying with them, had a great couple of days, and another xmas with presents and eating lots of food and Mum took us to visit Leeds castle!
